A brain tumour is a serious medical condition where an abnormal mass of cancerous (malignant) or noncancerous (benign) cells grows inside or around the brain. If these growths become big enough to compress surrounding tissue, nerves, and blood vessels, they can have a significant impact on brain function and health.

Treating a brain tumour requires expert care and a multidisciplinary approach. Treatment of a brain tumour depends on its size, type, patient’s age, health and so on. The usual treatment involves the following:

• Brain surgery: to remove tumours while preserving brain function.
• Radiation therapy: to shrink the tumour with high doses of X-rays.
• Chemotherapy: which targets the tumour cells left behind after surgery.

There are other treatments, such as radiosurgery, brachytherapy, immunotherapy, and more, the doctor may prescribe accordingly depending on the prognosis.

A spinal tumour is an abnormal growth of tissue in or around the spinal cord that may be malignant or benign. A spinal tumour may be referred to with a different name depending on its location. For example, a cervical tumour or an intramedullary tumour, and so on.

A tumour in or around the spine can cause serious neurological problems, including pain, paralysis, and permanent disability. It can also be life-threatening. Therefore, treating spinal tumours becomes necessary.

• Surgical Intervention: Surgery is conducted to remove the tumour, relieve pressure on the spinal cord, and restore spinal stability.
• Radiation and Chemotherapy: To target the tumours while sparing surrounding healthy tissues.
• Medication: To reduce swelling before, during and after the treatment.
